Dr. Randy Norris teaches on what it means to be a true follower of Jesus. Nicodemus came to Jesus “by night.” He clearly didn’t want anyone to see him conversing with Jesus. But by the time Jesus was crucified Nicodemus’ faith in Christ had become much more bold–to the point that he helped prepare Jesus’ body for burial. Randy challenges us to boldy let the world know we belong to Jesus–no matter the consequences.
Hebrews 11, which is often called the “Hall of Faith” chapter, wasn’t originally written as an individual chapter within Hebrews. According to Dr. Randy Norris, these powerful verses are part of a much larger picture that the author of Hebrews was painting. In light of the all the Savior has done for us (as esposed throughout Hebrews), what more fitting expression of praise and gratitude than to live our entire lives for Him? But as Randy points out so powerfully, that kind of determination requires total faith in Christ. Like those listed in the closing verses of chapter 11, we too may need to suffer and die for Jesus one day–but to accomplish that, we must first be living for him now each and every day.
One of the most outstanding and famous personalities in the Bible is Moses. His adventurous stories of how he lead God’s people out of Eygpt have fascinated children and adults alike for thousands of years. Dr. Randy Norris brings to the forefront the great faith of Moses, and how we too must have great faith to do great things for God.
This week Dr. Randy Norris continues his powerful series through Hebrews 11 called Heroes. His challenge is simple but incredibly piercing: Abraham offered up Isaac. God offered up Jesus. Who will we offer up? Of course, the correct answer is ourselves. Randy says we shouldn’t be willing to die for him, we should already be dead. It’s not enough to be willing to follow his commands, we should already be obeying him–no matter the cost.
In this message in the Heroes Series, Pastor Randy Norris asks us a very pointed and poignant question: If the Bible were still being written what chance would you and I have of being included in the list of faith heroes in Hebrews 11? What’s your dream? What huge thing would you like to do for God during your lifetime? What’s keeping you from pursuing it? Is it fear, laziness, or apathy? Start by being a hero of faith in your home and at work.
Ever long for the comforts of home? Ever wish you could just settle in to what’s familiar and easy, without having to take risks and step into the unknown? Pastor Randy Norris encourages us to look at the faith of Abraham and be inspired to follow God–no matter where, when or why He leads. The fruit is out on the limb, and we can trust our God to never let us down when we step out in bold faith in His promises.
