Mr. Rogers will be forever remembered by his simple little song about neighbors. And apparently Mr. Rogers had it right. According to Dr. Randy Norris, it is quite appropriate and correct to look around and see everyone as our neighbors–even those we don’t personally know or live near. In this powerful challenge to get out of our comfort zones, Randy shows us a simple but effective way to invest and invite our neighbors to know Jesus.
When Jesus taught the people by the shore, He got into Peter’s boat. Then He challenged Peter to launch out into the deep water. The resulting load of fish (that broke their nets) helped solidy Peter’s faith in Jesus. Dr. Randy Norris explains that Peter went on to be an amazing “connector” for the Kingdom. We all have a circle of friends and collegues that we can connect to Jesus. That is our responsibility and privilege as core followers of Christ.
Our mission at The Church of Ross Station is to Love Jesus, Love People, and Serve the World. Each of our first 3 years has emphasized one of these three goals. 2010 is the year to focus on serving the world. The Church at Ross Station is exists first of all to reach the people of Ross Bridge, Lake Cyrus, Hoover and Bessemer. Randy formed a diverse team from within our congregation, who worked on and prayed over this specific gameplan for more than 3 months.
